The Lagos State Government has begun compensating residents affected by the urban renewal and regeneration project in Oworonshoki, Kosofe Local Government Area, fulfilling its promise to those impacted. The payment exercise, which started on October 23, 2025, reflects the government’s commitment to humane and inclusive development. According to LASURA’s General Manager, TPL/ESV Olajide Animashaun, the initiative followed proper verification and engagement with stakeholders and became necessary due to unsafe and illegal structures built on waterways. Animashaun praised Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s leadership and reaffirmed LASURA’s commitment to fairness and transparency. A total of 79 verified beneficiaries will receive compensation in two batches, with several residents expressing gratitude for the government’s sincerity and concern for their welfare. The ceremony was attended by traditional leaders, community representatives, and civil society groups.
