37 People Killed In Sokoto Communities By Bandits For Not Paying Required Levy

In communities surrounding Tangaza, Sokoto state, bandits have reportedly killed no less than 37 local residents. The alleged reason behind these killings is their failure to pay the levies imposed on the communities by the bandits. The affected communities include Rakkah, Rakkah Dutse, Gwadabawa kwari, and others.

As of now, the police have not yet responded to the incident. However, a survivor from one of the communities spoke to journalists over the phone and revealed that more than 27 victims have already been buried. The survivor also claimed that it was challenging to reach security forces in Sokoto over the weekend due to poor communication and a weak network.

The survivor further mentioned that this was not the first time the bandits had terrorized the communities and appealed to the government for assistance.
