Transport Hike: Kwara Government Reduces The Number Of Work Days To Three

In response to the significant increase in transport fares, the Kwara Government has issued a directive reducing the work week from five days to three days for all state workers. This announcement was made by Murtala Atoyebi, the Chief Press Secretary to Gov. Abdulrahman Abdulrazak, in a statement released in Ilorin. The State Head of Service, Mrs. Susan Oluwole, has instructed the Heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to promptly develop a schedule indicating the alternating work days for their respective employees. This temporary measure aims to alleviate the challenges faced by public workers in the state due to the removal of fuel subsidies by the Federal Government. Mrs. Oluwole also emphasized the need for workers to not take advantage of the governor’s generosity and stated that her office will increase monitoring of MDAs to ensure strict compliance.
