During a recent media chat in Port Harcourt, the former governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, expressed his belief that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) government has been given an opportunity to rectify their past wrongdoings against Nigerians. He stated that this chance came at the expense of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Wike criticized the PDP for deviating from its zoning principle, which he believed contributed to their loss in the presidential election and allowed the APC to emerge victorious. He urged critics to support the current administration in delivering the promised benefits of democracy to Nigerians. Wike also addressed the possibility of receiving an appointment from President Bola Tinubu, stating that he was not actively seeking one but would be interested in understanding the role he would play if offered. This media chat took place shortly after Wike, along with former Ebonyi state governor Dave Umahi and Senator Godswill Akpabio, had a private meeting with Tinubu at the Aso Villa less than 24 hours prior.
