Zainab Abbas, the wife of a judge from the Adamawa State High Court, was reportedly abducted by suspected kidnappers. The incident took place between 1:00 am and 2:00 am on Wednesday at Nyibango, Army Barracks road in Jimeta Yola, Adamawa State. Two weeks ago, a gang of kidnappers also kidnapped Pastor Mike Ochigbo, a well-known televangelist, from the same community.
In a statement, the Adamawa Police Command revealed the recent abduction and expressed their determination to rescue the judge’s wife. The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, stated that the Commissioner of Police, Afolabi Babatola, has deployed a team from the Crack Squad and Special Rapid Response Team to conduct the rescue operation.
Nguroje added that the operatives would also conduct raids on known criminal hideouts and areas of criminal activity in order to rescue the victim, apprehend the suspects, and bring their collaborators to justice. The Commissioner of Police has instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations and Deployment to oversee the rescue operation, while all Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) are instructed to implement stop-and-search measures.
Furthermore, Nguroje explained that the planned rescue operation would utilize technological innovations, including the deployment of electronic devices to capture visual evidence of those involved in the criminal activities.
