According to reports, three family members were allegedly abducted by unidentified gunmen in the Greenland community behind 500 Housing Estate, Ganaja, located in the Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi State. The incident occurred around 9 pm on Monday, causing residents to flee for safety as the gunmen took away the victims.

A witness described how the gunmen, who arrived in a Siena bus, entered the community and fired shots indiscriminately before targeting their main victim, believed to be a retired security officer.

The Chairman of the Greenland community, Paul Atabor, confirmed the incident and stated that it had been reported to the C Division of the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) in the state.

Furthermore, Atabor revealed that the community received a notice from the suspected kidnappers on Wednesday morning, indicating their intention to return and abduct more people. The message in the letter sent by the suspected kidnappers read, “Greenland community, get ready for us, we are coming to get someone.”

A family member of one of the kidnapped victims, who preferred to remain anonymous, disclosed that the kidnappers had contacted the family and were demanding a ransom for the release of the victims.

The Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya, stated that the state police command had not been officially briefed about the incident. However, he assured that he would provide an update after gathering more information from the Divisional Police Officer of the C Division.
