In Abuja, at the Aso Rock Villa, President Bola Tinubu is currently holding a meeting with prominent oil marketers. Leading the group of oil marketers is Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State.
This meeting between the President and the oil marketers takes place amidst the ongoing controversy and protests surrounding the elimination of the subsidy on Premium Motor Spirit, commonly known as petrol.
During his inaugural speech on May 29 at the Eagle Square in Abuja, the President made an announcement regarding the discontinuation of subsidy payments on petrol. He mentioned that the previous administration under Muhammadu Buhari had not allocated funds for subsidies in the 2023 budget beyond June.
