Man Brutally Stabs Six Children In France

According to security sources cited by AFP, an incident of mass stabbing occurred in the town of Annecy in the French Alps on Thursday, resulting in injuries to seven individuals, including six children. A man wielding a knife targeted a group of approximately three-year-old children playing near the town’s lake in a park around 9:45 am (0745 GMT), as reported by an anonymous security source and a local official to AFP. The Interior Minister, Gerald Darmanin, stated in a tweet that the perpetrator was apprehended promptly due to the swift response of security forces.

The security source informed AFP that at least three of the victims were in critical condition. Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne’s office announced her journey to the scene, and members of the national parliament observed a minute of silence upon learning of the attack through French media.

As per an anonymous police source who spoke to AFP, the suspect in the stabbing incident in Annecy claimed to be a Syrian asylum seeker during police interrogation. The source further noted that the identity of the suspected attacker is still being verified and has not been confirmed, suggesting that he is not known to security services.
