Transfer: Man U Target, Osimhen Transfer Fee Splashed To €120m

Reports suggest that Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has reduced the price tag for Manchester United to sign their desired striker Victor Osimhen from €150m to €120m, indicating a clear cost for the potential transfer. Manchester United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, urgently requires a new striker for the upcoming season due to Anthony Martial’s fitness issues, and it is unlikely that Wout Weghorst’s move will become permanent.

According to Man Utd News, De Laurentiis has significantly lowered the valuation of the Nigerian striker by €30m, signaling Napoli’s willingness to sell the player. Osimhen, a 24-year-old prolific striker, had an exceptional performance during the 2022/23 season, scoring 31 goals and providing five assists in just 39 appearances across various competitions. His contributions were instrumental in securing Napoli’s first Scudetto in three decades, but he might be on the move this summer as Manchester United has shown interest.

His impressive statistics have attracted attention from top European clubs, with Manchester United currently leading the race to secure his services for the upcoming season. Other clubs, including Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool, Newcastle, Chelsea, and Real Madrid, have also shown interest in the Super Eagles striker. Despite having three years remaining on his contract, Osimhen has expressed his desire to play in the Premier League. Man Utd News reports that De Laurentiis is unwilling to accept anything less than €120m to sell the player, despite previously setting a minimum offer of €150m.

While Manchester United seems to be the frontrunner among English clubs, they may face competition from their European counterparts. Osimhen commented on his future after Napoli’s 2-0 victory over Sampdoria on the final day of the Serie A season on June 4, stating that he is open to different possibilities and will go with the flow based on the president’s decision. He believes that anything is possible, drawing inspiration from Napoli’s underdog journey this season when many doubted their success.
