The Concerned Northern Forum has demanded the apprehension and legal proceedings against Hadi Sirika, the former Minister of Aviation, for his alleged involvement in the Nigeria Air scam. This call comes in response to the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation’s declaration that Nigeria Air is a fraudulent venture and their recommendation for the government to suspend the airline.
According to Waffi TV’s report, Dayo Olumide, the Managing Director of Nigeria Air, revealed that the aircraft purportedly belonging to Nigeria Air, which landed at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on May 26, 2023, was actually chartered from Ethiopia Airlines. Olumide made this statement while addressing questions from senators.
Waffi TV also reported on the matter, stating that the Concerned Northern Forum, through their chairman Ali Muhammad, issued a statement on Thursday calling for the arrest and prosecution of the former aviation minister by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The group accuses Sirika of repeatedly exhibiting impunity, disregarding the law, and acting as a dictatorial minister. They claim that he disregarded advice from aviation experts and Nigerian airline operators who warned against the Nigeria Air project. The group believes that Sirika’s actions have caused a national disgrace and wasted valuable resources, and they assert that his alleged fraudulent activities fall under the jurisdiction of the EFCC, urging the agency to promptly investigate and apprehend him.
