President Bola Tinubu’s decision to suspend Godwin Emefiele, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has received praise from former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike. Emefiele was suspended by Tinubu on Friday, with instructions to hand over to Folashodun Shonubi, the Deputy Governor of the Operations Directorate at the bank.
Wike, who had been critical of Emefiele’s policies, particularly the Naira redesign, expressed his approval of the President’s bold and timely decision. In addition, Wike’s media team stated that he commended President Tinubu for his approval of uniform retirement age and pension for judicial officers in the country.
Wike believes that this action by the President will bring about a revitalization of the nation’s judiciary. He further mentioned that he and other G5 members are impressed by the President’s focused and exemplary leadership, which will lead the country towards prosperity.
