Ughelli: Gunmen Allegedly Kidnap Three Persons

An unidentified Businessman was abducted on Saturday night in Ekredjebor community of Ughelli North Local Government Area, allegedly by individuals believed to be gunmen. The incident occurred amidst reports of two other individuals being kidnapped in the Amekpa and Bris & Bina areas of Ughelli metropolis.

According to an eyewitness, the victim was forcibly taken away in a Lexus Utility vehicle through the Ekredjebor/Saniko route by the kidnappers, who fired multiple gunshots. The suspected kidnappers abandoned the victim’s Toyota Corolla car at the scene after intercepting him with their own vehicles. Comrade Igho Ogedegbe, the Vice President General of Ekredjebor Community, confirmed the attack and expressed frustration over the lack of effective response from security operatives during the incident.

According to him, “I was in my house when I heard the gunshots. I rushed out and discovered that a man was kidnapped near Atmosphere School leaving his car.

“We searched the car and found a driver’s license with address at Egbo Close suspected to be of the victim.

“We called police but none came. Sunday morning police from Ofuoma Division came to tow the car away.

“As I speak we don’t know anything about the victim, they took him through Saniko axis. We pray that he’s safe.” He stated.

While our Correspondent was able to verify the Ekredjebor incident, ‘Ughelli Aproko Gist,’ a well-known Facebook user, claimed that there were three cases of kidnapping.

A post on his Facebook account read, “OKAMOKA! Dem kidnap Asore Frank yesterday night for around second Amekpa, same yesterday night other two kidnappings take place for Ekrejebor around Powo church and around Bris and Bina for Ughelli.”

At the time of submitting this report, DSP Bright Edafe, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, had not yet provided a response to inquiries regarding the incident.
