Tinubu Signs Students’ Loan Bill Into Law

In fulfillment of a campaign promise, President Bola Tinubu has officially enacted the Student Loan Bill. This significant development was announced on Monday by the Federal Government’s spokesperson, Mr. Dele Alake. As per the announcement, the funds allocated for this purpose will be held in the Ministry of Education and will exclusively benefit financially disadvantaged students pursuing tertiary education.

The Student Loan Bill, which was championed by the Speaker of the 9th House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, recently completed its final reading in the House. The bill proposes interest-free loans for Nigerian students in need and has received widespread support.

The newly enacted law aims to facilitate accessible higher education for financially disadvantaged individuals in Nigeria by providing interest-free loans through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund.
