Police Kill Suspected Kidnapper, Rescue Victim in Abraka

A suspected kidnapper was killed by operatives from the Delta State Police Command in Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government Area. Simultaneously, a victim of the kidnapping syndicate was successfully rescued without any harm.

According to information obtained by Waffi TV, the Abraka police station operatives, led by Divisional Police Officer SP Fabian Ayameh, were informed about a kidnapping incident at a filling station in the town. The incident involved four armed men operating a silver Lexus SUV with registration number KSF 315 HF along Campus III Road Abraka. The police team, on routine patrol at 9:09 pm on Sunday, immediately mobilized and began pursuing the kidnappers.

Upon realizing that the police were closing in on them, the suspects attempted to escape and fired gunshots. In response, the police engaged them in gunfire. Delta State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident, stating that the police’s superior firepower successfully disabled the suspects’ vehicle. As a result, the criminals abandoned the victim and fled in different directions. However, the determined policemen engaged in a gun battle with the hoodlums and managed to eliminate one of them, while another was apprehended with gunshot injuries. Two others managed to escape.

DSP Bright Edafe further revealed that the police recovered an AK47 rifle with the serial number 06571 (without a magazine) from the suspects. The search for the remaining fugitive is ongoing. The rescued victim, who had been kidnapped at the filling station, has been safely reunited with their family, as confirmed by the police.

Commending the bravery and accomplishments of the Abraka Divisional Police Officer and his team, Delta State Commissioner of Police CP Wale Abass urged them to maintain their dedication and efforts. He reassured the people of Delta State that the command would continue to prioritize and uphold peace and security in the region.
