Gbajabiamila Resigns From House Of Reps

Femi Gbajabiamila, the former Speaker, has officially resigned from his position in the House of Representatives in order to assume the role of Chief of Staff to the president.

He submitted his resignation letter, which was read by the current speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, during a session of the house.

Earlier on Wednesday, Waffi TV reported that Gbajabiamila would step down to fully focus on his responsibilities within the new government.

There were concerns about how he would manage both positions, especially since he was inaugurated as the former Speaker alongside his colleagues on Tuesday and participated in voting for the House’s leadership.

However, the representative for Surulere 1 has now tendered his resignation, necessitating a fresh election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to fill the vacant role.
