Transfer: Osimhen Reject Napoli Contract Extension

Reports from Italy indicate that Napoli striker Victor Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, has declined discussions with Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis regarding Osimhen’s contract extension. Numerous sources have linked the Nigerian player with a potential departure from Stadio Amando Maradona during the summer transfer window.

According to Area Napoli, Calenda is unwilling to engage in negotiations with De Laurentiis, as he is actively seeking an exit for his client this summer. The 24-year-old’s future is generating significant interest, with Napoli facing pressure to retain their prized asset. Osimhen had a remarkable 2022/23 season in Serie A, scoring 26 goals and providing four assists in 32 league appearances for Gli Azzurri.

His impressive performances played a pivotal role in Napoli clinching their first Serie A title since 1990, and Osimhen was named Serie A Striker of the Season. Several clubs, including Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, and Real Madrid, are reportedly vying to secure his signature. It is worth noting that Osimhen’s contract runs until 2025.

“Victor Osimhen and his agent have no intention of engaging in contract discussions with Aurelio De Laurentiis and extending their tenure with the club,” stated Area Napoli. “Chelsea and PSG have already expressed interest in Osimhen. Roberto Calenda, the Nigerian’s agent, does not plan to extend the contract that expires in 2025. With Bayern Munich’s €100 million offer on the table, Osimhen is considered untouchable, perhaps even for €120 million, given the rising prices in the market.”

Osimhen was signed from Lille for €75 million, plus additional fees, in September 2020, and he still has three years remaining on his contract. De Laurentiis is reluctant to risk selling the striker for a reduced fee.
