Dani Alves Charged For Sexual Assault, Faces 12 Years In Prison

Although Alves has refuted the allegations, his appeals for bail have been denied, and he remains detained at Brians 2.

By Johnson Atoukudu:

Dani Alves, a former Barcelona defender, may potentially be sentenced to a maximum of 12 years in prison due to an accusation of sexual assault at a nightclub in Spain.

The trial for this case is anticipated to take place between October and November.

Since January 20, Alves has been in custody after being accused by a 23-year-old woman of sexual assault.

Although Alves has refuted the allegations, his appeals for bail have been denied, and he remains detained at Brians 2.

Should he be found guilty, Alves could face a prison term of up to 12 years.

Despite Alves making a recent appeal for release from remand, the high court in Barcelona rejected it.

Marca reports concerns that if Alves were to be released, he might flee to his home country of Brazil, as it does not extradite its citizens.
