On Monday, New York City experienced a series of shooting incidents that resulted in the death of at least four individuals, including a 16-year-old, and left 12 others injured.
In the most recent episode of violence, a 56-year-old man named Kevin Roberts was found dead in the Bronx. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds outside an apartment building on Simpson Street in the Longwood section of the Bronx around 11 p.m., according to police investigators.
Eyewitness News reported that no arrests have been made in connection with the incident. This victim was one of four individuals killed during the weekend due to gun violence.
Among the victims was a 16-year-old who was shot and killed in the Bedford Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn. The incident occurred around 6 p.m. on Monday while the teenager was standing across the street from his residence on Marcus Garvey Boulevard. The motive behind the shooting remains unknown, and the police are investigating whether the 16-year-old was the intended target. No arrests have been made in this case either.
Additionally, in the Longwood section of the Bronx, a 27-year-old person lost their life in a shooting that took place around 2:30 p.m. on Longfellow Avenue. The victim was found with a gunshot wound to the head. Eyewitness News spoke to a neighbor who provided aid to the victim by applying pressure to their neck. The circumstances surrounding this shooting are still unclear, and an arrest has not yet been made.
In Manhattan, three individuals were shot, and one of them was pronounced dead at the hospital. No arrests have been made in relation to this incident.
Staten Island also experienced gunfire, where two people were shot near Victory Boulevard and S Greenleaf Ave on Monday evening. The victims, an 18-year-old male and a 19-year-old female, are expected to survive. The suspects, described as four males, fled the scene in a vehicle.
The New York Police Department is currently investigating each of these separate incidents to determine the factors leading up to them.
