……..the hospital was reluctant to release his body unless the remaining medical bill of N600,000 was settled.
By Efe Magrimor:
Jeremiah ‘Jerry’ Okorodudu, a former Nigerian boxer, passed away on Wednesday night at a private hospital in Lawandon, Lagos. He had been bedridden for weeks due to a foot ulcer.
Okorodudu’s wife, Adenike, informed Waffi TV about his death. However, she mentioned that the hospital was reluctant to release his body unless the remaining medical bill of N600,000 was settled.
“He is dead now but we still need to pay N600,000 to get his body out of the hospital,” she said.
He was aged 64.
Remi Aboderin, the President of the West Africa Boxing Union, along with the Secretary-General of the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control, both verified the unfortunate news of the Olympian’s demise.
“It is true about his death. I just confirmed it after you called me and I reached out to some colleagues,” Aboderin said.
“It is unfortunate that he died this way, and I am actually lost for words. May his soul rest in peace,” he said.
