In his residence in Kaduna, Shehu Sani, the former Senator of Kaduna Central, urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu not to distribute the savings from subsidy funds to governors.
Instead, he advised that the funds be directed towards establishing railway connections and dual carriageways that link all states in the country. Speaking to journalists on Thursday, Sani expressed his support for the removal of fuel subsidy and emphasized the importance of transparency in revealing how the subsidy funds are utilized.
He proposed that the funds be allocated for infrastructure development, including roads, education, and healthcare, so that all Nigerians can benefit from them.
“I think that government should not pay any individual subsidy funds but use the resources for things we can see and benefit from,” he said.
Sani also highlighted the positive changes in the oil sector under the administration of Mele Kyari, including the discovery and exploitation of oil in the northern regions and a significant reduction in oil theft in the Niger Delta.
Shehu Sani commended President Tinubu for taking decisive steps in addressing insecurity by dismissing and appointing new service chiefs. He praised the appointments of the Chief of Defense Staff, Secretary General of the Federation, and the National Security Advisers, stating that they are well-suited for their respective roles.
Sani emphasized that the current service chiefs have no excuses and must prioritize the protection of citizens and the territorial integrity of Nigeria.
