In Obio/Akpor Local Government Area in Rivers State, a building that was in the process of being constructed has collapsed, resulting in injuries to four individuals. The building was intended to be used for a hospitality business, specifically a sit-out bar located near the Okilton junction on Ada-George Road.

Fortunately, no lives were lost in the incident, and the injured individuals are currently receiving medical treatment at a nearby hospital.

In response to the collapse, the Rivers State Government has expressed its determination to hold accountable those responsible for contributing to the building’s collapse. Emeka Woke, the Commissioner for Special Project, made this statement after visiting both the site of the collapsed building and the hospital where the survivors are being treated. He emphasized that a thorough investigation will be conducted to determine the immediate and underlying causes of the collapse.

Meanwhile, Promise Chizi, the architect who designed the building plan and supervised the project, expressed shock upon learning about the incident. He maintains his innocence and denies any form of compromise. Chizi received the news of the collapse on Thursday around 5 am.
