Pastor Dayo Ezekiel from Christ Reign Church in Ilorin emphasizes that Nigerian graduates and job seekers require connections more than prayers.
Ezekiel called upon religious leaders in the country to actively facilitate connections among their congregants, rather than solely relying on prayers without taking any tangible steps to empower them.
During an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin, Ezekiel advised religious leaders to use their networks to create opportunities for graduates and job seekers.
The clergyman observed that many religious leaders solely concentrate on offering prayers for graduates and job seekers in their midst, without making any genuine effort to establish connections for them.
He further stated that most religious leaders possess the means to assist these individuals, but instead, they choose to pray without taking any practical measures to address their needs.
“I believe in prayer, but why can’t you use your position to connect young graduates and fix them for a better living.
“Prayer alone is not enough. Hand them over to big personalities coming to your Church or Mosque. Collect their CV and give it out.
“We focus too much on prayers. God will not come down from heaven to help. He will use someone for them.
“It is time we religious leaders use our positions to help. We always ask them to pray and fast which is normal. We can do better by connecting them to people we know and have access to,” he said.
However, Ezekiel advised the graduates to refrain from being selective in their job choices and instead begin their careers from any available starting point, rather than remaining idle or wandering aimlessly on the streets.
