Ukraine Downs Russian Missiles And Drones In Kyiv Attack

On Sunday, the Ukrainian air force announced that it had successfully intercepted and destroyed three cruise missiles and eight attack drones launched by Russian forces during their first assault on Kyiv in 12 days.

According to the Ukrainian air force, they were able to eliminate all airborne threats, specifically eight Iranian drones known as Shaheds and three Kalibr cruise missiles. The air force’s statement revealed that the Shaheds were launched from the southeast, while the Kalibr missiles were launched from the Black Sea.

Ruslan Kravchenko, the head of the Kyiv regional military administration, reported that falling debris from the intercepted missiles and drones caused damage to three private houses in the Kyiv region. Additionally, one individual sustained a leg injury, as per Kravchenko’s statement.

Ukraine has demonstrated increasing proficiency in countering Russian cruise missiles and drones, thanks in part to seeking assistance from Western allies to enhance its air defense capabilities. Although Kyiv had experienced relatively fewer attacks earlier in the year, the situation changed in May when the city faced frequent aerial raids during the night.
