The ruling All Progressives Congress has rescheduled its highly anticipated National Caucus and National Executive Committee NEC meetings. Previously scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, the meetings will now take place one week later on July 18 and 19 respectively. In a statement from the party’s National Secretary, Iyiola Omisore, it was announced that the change in date was to accommodate President Bola Tinubu’s recent appointment as the new Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States.
“Members of the National Caucus and National Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress are hereby informed that our meetings of 10th and 11th of July, 2023, have been postponed to the 18th and 19th of July, 2023, respectively,” the notice said.
“The postponement is necessitated by the regional and sub-regional schedules and engagements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, as the new Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States. Inconveniences regretted,” he said.
The ECOWAS chairmanship is a rotating position held by a head of state or government of one of the member countries, and Tinubu’s appointment is for a one-year term.
