The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu, expressed the party’s readiness to accept the G-5 led by former Rivers state Governor Nyesom Wike into its ranks. Adamu made this statement during an interview with Arise Television on Tuesday.

The APC chairman emphasized that the G-5 would be warmly welcomed whenever they choose to join the ruling party.

In the meantime, Adamu dismissed the rumored disagreements between himself and President Bola Tinubu. He asserted that he deserved recognition for guiding the party through a successful presidential primary and ultimately securing Tinubu’s victory.

Adamu clarified that his stance on the recently elected principal officers of the national assembly was misrepresented, stating that the APC’s concern was primarily with how the lawmakers handled the communication.

Adamu highlighted that those who had grievances against him always had the opportunity to express their opinions during national meetings. He mentioned that Saliu Lukman, who had accused him of running a one-man show, had regularly attended those meetings.

The APC chairman emphasized that Lukman’s decision to take the party to court was a serious offense, despite later withdrawing the case from the court and apologizing for his misconduct.

Adamu said, “I think that’s a soft selling point for you media people. It is true that at the time that I made a presentation to the National Working Committee (NWC), the name of Senator Ahmed Lawan was thrown up.

“That was before the convention. So many things took place between then and the actual date of the convention and you saw what culminated in the convention unanimously. I was there and I led the convention of the party.

“A day after the convention, I took the entire working committee to his (Tinubu’s) house in Asokoro and assured him of our support and said we will stand shoulder to shoulder with him and ensure that the mandate was sold properly to the people of Nigeria. We won the election. Instead of being praised, we are vilified,” he said.
