An unidentified member of the House of Representatives was expelled due to inappropriate attire during Wednesday’s plenary session. The member, whose identity remains unknown, entered the alternative chamber towards the conclusion of the day’s proceedings. This makeshift chamber is being utilized while the main chamber undergoes renovation.

During this time, Hon. Billy Osaweru (APC, Edo) raised a point of order, drawing the House’s attention to the violation of the dress code.

He said “Mr. Speaker, our rules state the need for proper dressing while coming for plenary. Mr. Speaker, if you look upstairs, there is a member in chamber wearing a T-Shirt and jeans trouser”.

However, as Osaweru was presenting the point of order, the mentioned member swiftly rose and exited the Chamber. Speaker Tajudeen Abbas affirmed the validity of the point of order, stating, “point of order acknowledged and adhered to.”
