The appointment of the Chief of Defence Staff and Service Chiefs, who were selected by President Bola Tinubu, has been confirmed by the Senate.
The following top security Chiefs were confirmed on Thursday: Major General Christopher G Musa as Chief of Defence Staff, Major General T.A Lagbaja as Chief of Army Staff, Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla as Chief Naval Staff, and Air Vice Marshal H. B. Abubakar as Chief of Air Staff.
Before the confirmation, the Service Chiefs had a closed-door session with the Senators, during which they were engaged from 12:42 PM to 2:59 PM.
The Service Chiefs arrived at the National Assembly Complex at around 10:00 AM for an appointment scheduled at 11:00 AM. They remained outside the Chamber until the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, acknowledged their presence during the plenary session.
Upon their presence being acknowledged, the Senate Leader, Senator Michael Bamidele Opeyemi, moved a motion to suspend Order 60 of the Senate Standing Orders 2022 (as Amended), allowing the Chamber to attend to them.
