Delta: JTF Hands Over Suspected Oil Thieves To NSCDC





The Nigeria Army’s Operation Delta Safe (OPDS), part of the Joint Task Force (JTF), has transferred 12 individuals believed to be involved in oil theft to the Delta Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) for legal proceedings.

During the ceremony held in Asaba on Saturday, Maj. Yahaya Kabara, the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 63 Brigade of the Nigeria Army, stated that the suspects were apprehended on July 7, 2023, near the coast of Escravos.

Maj. Kabara explained that the suspects, along with the vessel MV TURA II, were captured by Sector 1 OPDS troops and TANTITA Security Services operatives while transporting illegally obtained crude oil in the vicinity of Escravos.

He further added that the Army is handing over the suspects to the NSCDC to facilitate their formal prosecution in compliance with the law.

“The Joint Task Force, South South Operation Delta Safe (JTF SS OPDS), enjoined the general public to continue to go about their legitimate businesses with the assurance of adequate security
“For those who decide to do it illegally, the JTF SS OPDS will stop at nothing to see to their total destruction,” Kabara said.
