The newly appointed service chiefs will appear before the adhoc committee of the House of Representatives to undergo screening. It is worth noting that President Ahmed Bola Tinubu had written to the speaker, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, last week, requesting the House to conduct the screening process.

This request came after the immediate retirement of the former Service Chiefs, the ex-Inspector-General of Police, and the ex-Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service on June 19.

In response to the president’s request, Speaker Abbas formed a committee led by Rep. Babajimi Benson (APC, Lagos), who chairs the Committee on Defence in the 9th House. Additionally, Abbas appointed the eight principal officers of the House from both the majority and minority parties to join the ad-hoc committee.

The service chiefs who are scheduled to undergo the screening are as follows: Maj. Gen. C.G Musa as the Chief of Defence Staff, Maj. Gen. T. A. Lagbaja as the Chief of Army Staff, Rear Admiral E. A. Ogalla as the Chief of Naval Staff, and Air Vice Marshal H.B. Abubakar as the Chief of Air Staff.
