The police officers stationed at the Area Command Headquarters in Ihiala, along with the Anambra State Vigilante operatives in Okija, collaborated on Saturday to recover a HOWO trailer, registered as Delta AKU 247 XB, which was transporting 1000 bags of stolen cement. The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, stated that the truck had been hijacked at gunpoint on Friday, July 14, in Obiliokite, Delta, according to the information received.
Tochukwu further explained that upon encountering a joint patrol team comprising of the Police and Vigilantes along the Onitsha-Owerri expressway, the armed criminals decided to abandon the truck and flee, taking advantage of the opportunity. In response, Commissioner of Police Aderemi Adeoye has instructed a manhunt for the gunmen.
Adeoye urged local residents in the area to provide any valuable information that could aid in apprehending the suspects on the run. He assured them that all information shared would be treated with the utmost confidentiality.

“Also, the recovered consignment has been released to the rightful owner on the Instruction of the Commissioner of Police,” he disclosed.
