Esther Godwin, a woman, was apprehended by the Ondo State Police Command after allegedly scalding Endurance Samuel with boiling water. She accused Samuel of engaging in an illicit relationship with her spouse. The occurrence took place in Idanre, specifically in the Idanre Local Government Area of the state.
In response to the incident, Samuel refuted the claim of having a romantic involvement with the suspect’s husband. Instead, she clarified that she worked alongside him as a laborer on the farm.
“Esther called me from where I was learning tailoring to come and collect the palm oil her husband is owing me. I also work as a labourer for her husband and some other farmers in the town.
“I rushed out of my oga’s shop excitedly, not knowing that the call was just to lure me to her shop where she was selling food to pour hot water on me for the offence I did not commit,” she said.
The victim’s husband, Godwin, likewise refuted any allegations of having an affair with the victim.
“I am the one paying for the victim’s treatment at the hospital since the incident happened till date,” he said.
According to Funmilayo Odunlami, the State Police Public Relations Officer, the suspect is no longer in police custody as the case has already been taken to court.
“The suspect has been charged to court, she is not with us,” the PPRO stated.
