The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abubakar Kyari, has been elected as the party’s new National Chairman, taking over from Senator Abdullahi Adamu. This decision was made during a National Working Committee (NWC) meeting held in Abuja on Monday.
After the NWC meeting, Kyari addressed reporters and officially announced the resignations of Adamu and Senator Iyiola Omisore from their positions as the party’s National Chairman and National Secretary respectively.
In accordance with the party’s constitution, the Deputy National Secretary, Festus Fuanter, will assume the role of acting National Secretary for the APC.
During the NWC meeting, Adamu was absent, while Omisore left the meeting abruptly at the party’s secretariat in Abuja.
Senator Abubakar Kyari, who previously represented Borno North Senatorial District in the 9th National Assembly, chaired the APC NWC meeting.
