On Saturday, Bayern Munich announced that Sadio Mane, the Senegalese striker, was in discussions “regarding a club change,” with reports suggesting he might join Saudi side Al Nassr. The 31-year-old former Liverpool star, who won the Champions League and Premier League during his six seasons with Liverpool, is expected to be the latest high-profile player to join the lucrative Saudi league.
Bayern left him out of a friendly match in Tokyo due to ongoing contract negotiations. Bild and Kicker magazine reported that he was heading for a medical with Al Nassr. Mane initially sought a new challenge in 2022 after winning the African Player of the Year award and deciding to leave Liverpool.
Bayern made a big effort to sign him, but after an injury and some off-field issues, it became evident that he wasn’t fitting in well at the German club. Now, he’s set to leave Bayern with two years remaining on his contract. Al Nassr has already secured several notable signings, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcelo Brozovic, Alex Telles, and Seko Fofana.
