Insurgency: NYSC To Resume Orientation Camp In Borno 13 Years After

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced its intention to resume the orientation program for new corps members in Borno, marking a return after a 13-year suspension due to the Boko Haram insurgency.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), corps members assigned to Borno had been conducting their orientation in Katsina State for several years due to the security situation caused by the insurgency.

Speaking at the ad hoc orientation camp situated at the Arabic Teachers College in Maiduguri, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Lawal Yusufu, stated that the upcoming orientation would take place within the state. He also emphasized that security agencies would collaborate to ensure the safety of incoming NYSC members at various points in the camp.

During his visit to the camp, the commissioner was joined by government representatives, including the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Bukar Tijjani, the State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Mohammed Adamu, and the Chairman of the State NYSC Governing Board, Alhaji Mohammed Badiya.

The commencement date for the orientation program for new NYSC members is scheduled for August 18.
