A National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) official was apprehended on the Lagos/Abeokuta Expressway with 4 Kilograms of a prohibited substance called Marsh-Mallow. He allegedly admitted his intention to sell the substance.
The arrest occurred on August 12, 2023, when a police team led by Assistant Superintendent of Police Samuel Sunday, who was on routine patrol, became suspicious and asked to inspect the contents of the suspect’s bag. The search revealed the illegal drugs, leading to the suspect’s arrest.
Police sources hinted that “The team intercepted the suspected drug courier at about 2.50p.m. at Cement Bus Stop.
“The suspect identified himself as Kelechi, 50, an indigene of Abia State, attached to NDLEA office, First Gate, Tin Can Island, Lagos.
“During interrogation, he confessed that the four kilogrammes of illicit drugs known as Marsh-Mallow was given to him by his superior whom he identified as Odogwu, to go and sell.”
Sources also indicated that the higher-ranking individual referred to by the suspect will be summoned to provide clarification regarding the accusation as part of the ongoing inquiry.
