Residents of Chukuba community in Niger’s Shiroro Local Government Area have evacuated to nearby Erena, Zumba, and Gwada areas after a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) helicopter crashed in their vicinity. Alhaji Akilu Ishaku, the Chairman of Shiroro Local Government, shared this information with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna on Monday.

He was informed about the helicopter crash by security personnel, the Village Head of Galkogo, and other individuals involved in the area where the incident took place.

“As the chief security officer of Shiroro Local Government, I have received reports of an aircraft crash, but the report did not state exactly who the aircraft belongs to.

“The name of the village where the crash happened is Badna village under Kwaki Chukuba ward.

“The people claimed they saw flame from a distance and saw that it was a helicopter that was on fire,” he said.

Ishaku revealed that due to fear resulting from the incident, a large number of people from the area fled to find safety and sought refuge in Erana, Zumba, and Gwada.

According to a report from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) confirmed the crash of one of its aircraft in Chukuba village, Niger state.
