APC’ll Rule Nigeria For 60 Years, Says Former Kaduna Speaker

Former Kaduna State House of Assembly Speaker, Yusuf Ibrahim Zailani, confidently stated on Thursday that the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, possesses the qualities to ensure the party’s prolonged stay in government for over 60 years. Zailani conveyed this during a visit to the party’s national headquarters in Abuja, leading a delegation of ex-House of Representatives members.

Interestingly, this declaration comes just 15 years after the late Vincent Ogbulafor, former National Chairman of the then-ruling Peoples Democratic Party, made a similarly controversial assertion.

Ogbulafor had claimed that due to the party’s commendable policies and initiatives, the PDP was destined to govern the nation for at least 60 years. However, the PDP’s governance under President Goodluck Jonathan ended with defeat in the 2015 presidential election, a mere seven years after Ogbulafor’s forecast.

Despite this history, Zailani expressed his conviction in the enduring potential of the ruling APC under Ganduje’s fresh leadership.

He said, “We have no doubt in our mind that you (Ganduje) will lead this party to continuously forming government in the Federal Republic of Nigeria, for more than 60 years. We know you can do it and we have absolute confidence that you can do it. As you can see, we are representing the country because all the six geopolitical zones are adequately represented here.

“We may not be in the House of Representatives now. But we want to tell you that all of us have the energy, the vision and the interest of the party at heart, so we are offering ourselves for any party assignments.

“With this, we know from one of us, you may have a special place for either the legislators or former members of our forum because we saw what you have done with one of our members who was your immediate past commissioner for finance. We want you to do more by possibly picking one of our ladies to work within the APC. We will continue to pray for you to show our solidarity and our support.”

Expressing gratitude for the kind gesture, Ganduje urged the delegation to ensure the consistent and thorough implementation of all constituency projects pledged to their constituents. He emphasized that these projects represent the tangible benefits of democracy that local communities frequently associate with and value.
