Dr. Betta Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, announced during a Channels Television interview on Friday that the government is preparing to introduce humanitarian funds with the aim of lifting 133 million Nigerians out of poverty. This follows her earlier statement on Monday, where she expressed the government’s commitment to this ambitious goal.

When questioned about the strategy to achieve this objective, she emphasized her intention to reveal the details of these humanitarian funds and assured Nigerians of the government’s commitment to transparency and sincerity in its plans and agenda.

“Presently, we are working on fully detailing the action plan. The agenda has been set by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu already.

“From a humanitarian trust fund, there will be mobilization funds across the board. The federal government, private sector and international organization. It will be unveiled soon”.

“We will be very transparent to Nigerians; the target is to lift 133 million Nigerians by 2030,” she said.

According to the Poverty Index from the National Bureau of Statistics, 130 million Nigerians are living in poverty.
