Gunmen abducted Hon. Kawu Ibrahim Yakasai, the Organizing Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State, on Friday night. Reports indicate that Yakasai, formerly the Chairman of Soba Local Government Area, was forcefully taken from his residence in Yakasai village during the night.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Kaduna State Governor, Mohammed Lawal Shehu, stated that the Governor has instructed security forces to pursue the abductors and ensure Yakasai’s release. Through his Chief Press Secretary, Mohammed Shehu, the Governor reiterated his administration’s dedication to safeguarding the lives and property of residents in the state.
The statement also mentioned that as part of Kaduna’s security measures, the government planned to hire 7,000 vigilantes to support the efforts of conventional security agencies.
