According to an exclusive report from FootballTransfers on Tuesday, Arsenal is said to have initiated discussions with Victor Osimhen, the Super Eagles and Napoli forward, regarding a potential transfer to the Emirates Stadium in 2024. The initial talks took place last week.
“We are informed that Arsenal sporting director Edu Gaspar contacted the owner of the Serie A club, Aurelio De Laurentiis, to ask about the availability of the player, having been given encouragement by the 24-year-old’s agent, Roberto Calenda.” the report said.
After narrowly missing out on the Premier League title to Manchester City last season, despite leading the table for most of the campaign, Arsenal has been actively seeking a “world-class” number 9.
Additionally, the report indicates that Osimhen has no intention of extending his contract with Napoli, which is set to expire in 2025.
Notably, Osimhen played a pivotal role in Napoli’s championship victory last season, marking their first Serie A title win in 33 years. He achieved this feat by scoring an impressive 26 goals in 32 appearances, securing the Serie A golden boot in the process.
Furthermore, on Sunday, Osimhen reached a significant milestone by scoring the opening goal in Napoli’s 2-0 triumph over Sassuolo. This goal marked his 100th professional career goal.
