The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, known as So-Safe, reported the arrest of Mathew Ifeanyi, a 38-year-old man, for allegedly fatally attacking his 100-year-old father, Anthony Nnadike, with a machete. This incident occurred in the Olorunda area of Eruobodo Ntabo, Ijoko, within the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state.

Ifeanyi is said to have committed this gruesome act due to his father’s failure to provide the N70,000 that had been entrusted to him since July 2022.

Soji Ganzallo, the Commandant of the Corps, made this announcement in a statement released on Wednesday through the Corps’ Director of Information and Public Relations, Moruf Yusuf.

Unfortunately, he was later pronounced dead by the attending doctor.

During the initial investigation, Ifeanyi purportedly confessed to the heinous act of killing his father. He stated that his motive stemmed from his father’s inability to repay the sum of N70,000 entrusted to him since July 22, 2022. Furthermore, he admitted that he resorted to this reprehensible act because he had resigned from his previous job with the intention of starting a business, but his father could not provide him with the necessary funds.

Subsequently, the suspect was transferred to the Nigeria Police Force, Sango Divisional Headquarters, for further inquiry and legal proceedings.
