Pa. Michael Taiwo Akinkunmi (OFR), the designer of the Nigerian flag, has passed away at the age of 93, following a short illness. The news of his death was shared on one of his children’s Facebook accounts on Tuesday morning.
He wrote, “Life is indeed transient; I can say boldly that you live a life with a landmark. Continue to rest, my father! Pa Michael Taiwo Akinkunmi (O.F.R.): Great Man has gone.”
Born on May 10, 1936, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Pa Akinwumi, a native of the region, resided in Ibadan until his passing.
