Subsidy Removal: We Have No Expenses To Cut Down- Senate Insists

Despite the economic difficulties resulting from the removal of fuel subsidies, the Senate has rejected the idea of the National Assembly reducing its expenditures.

Senator Yemi Adaramodu, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, asserted in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Monday that the National Assembly should not be held accountable for Nigeria’s economic hardships.

He highlighted the significant roles played by lawmakers, such as committee work and oversight responsibilities, which do not come with additional allowances.

He maintained that calls for expense reductions were unfounded. Adaramodu made these comments shortly after the tribunal upheld his electoral victory over Senator Biodun Olujimi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
