A nursing mother named Adijat has tragically lost her life after being shot by unidentified gunmen while she was bathing. The victim, who was of Fulani descent and caring for her three-month-old baby, was reportedly shot while in her bathroom at around 10 p.m. on a Tuesday evening.
This unfortunate incident took place in the Oke-Akute area of Iba, within the Ifelodun Local Government Area of Osun State.
The spokesperson for the Osun command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kehinde Adeleke, has confirmed the incident. He noted that although the woman was shot on Tuesday night, she sadly passed away on Thursday.
“The killers are yet-to-be identified but efforts are ongoing to apprehend those behind the incident with a view to bringing them to justice”, she added.
Furthermore, a community resident by the name of Wale has implored the security agencies to increase their efforts in capturing the suspects. This, he stressed, would help alleviate the anxiety and apprehension felt by the community’s residents in the wake of such incidents.
Wale went on to mention that a similar occurrence had taken place in the community approximately two years ago, and as a result, residents continue to live in constant fear.
