The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) are set to convene a joint press conference at 3 pm today to declare a nationwide indefinite strike.
It’s been reported that the leaders of these two labor organizations have resolved their previous differences, which led to only the NLC initiating a two-day warning strike with TUC’s participation.
To recall, on September 5 and 6, 2023, the NLC carried out a two-day warning strike in an effort to compel the government to address the significant suffering experienced by Nigerians, particularly workers.
As per insider sources, following separate meetings of their respective organizational bodies, the two labor centers will come together to announce an indefinite nationwide strike due to the Federal Government’s failure to address the suffering and socioeconomic hardships resulting from the removal of subsidy on Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol.
