Fake Drug Manufacturer Operating In 13 States Arrested

The Ondo state task force against fake and counterfeit drugs has apprehended a counterfeit drug manufacturer, who operated under the guise of the Brother Paul Legacy Foundation in 13 different states across the country.

Acting on a tip-off, the task force arrested this fraudulent drug dealer at the organization’s office situated in the cultural area of Ondo road, Akure, the capital state.

Mrs. Folukemi Aladenola, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, disclosed that the fake drug operation was found in possession of concoctions that they falsely claimed could cure various ailments harmful to people’s health. Aladenola further revealed that this illicit organization had been operating in 13 states throughout the country.

” The team got information that the organization was in town since June, treating all kinds of ailments at a price with the claim that they could treat all ailments such as cancer, low sperm count, diabetes, hypertension, hepatitis and barrenness and claimed to be registered with NAFDAC.

She emphasized that the Ministry of Health is committed to safeguarding the well-being of the state’s residents continuously. She explained that the state government has taken measures to guarantee unobstructed access to healthcare services for its citizens by eliminating registration fees in all government healthcare facilities, thus mitigating the impact of fuel subsidy removal.

” The gesture of the government should prompt our people to access government health care facility but to our surprise, people still patronise these quacks and their prices range from N5000 to N10,000″.

” Instead of using this money to patronise quacks, you can get quality drugs at the government facilities in the state”

” The era of out of stock syndrome is over, now our facilities now have enough drugs to cater for the health of the people at an affordable price. Now our facilities have been directed to get their drugs from this agency. If you don’t get drugs in these facilities, you can question this gap”

Aladenola strongly advised the state’s residents to seek healthcare exclusively from qualified professionals and accredited government or private healthcare facilities. She emphasized that the deceptive organization would be handed over to the appropriate authorities for appropriate sanctions.

The Permanent Secretary issued a stern warning, stating that all counterfeit drug vendors in the state would be held accountable for their actions.

Representing NAFDAC, Mr. Samuel Olatunji disclosed that the individuals associated with the Brother Paul Legacy Foundation had claimed to possess NAFDAC registration for their products, but an investigation revealed that their registration number was fraudulent.

The Chairman of the Ondo State task force, Olugbenga Lasekan, cautioned individuals engaged in the sale of counterfeit drugs and adulterated consumables to cease their activities, emphasizing that anyone caught would be subject to legal consequences.
