In an urgent attempt to prevent the planned nationwide strike starting on October 3, the Federal Government has called for an emergency gathering with the leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC).
The meeting is set to take place later today in the Conference Room of the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President at Aso Villa. Originally scheduled for noon today, the meeting had to be rescheduled to the evening to allow Organized Labour to contact their leaders located outside Abuja.
According to insider information, the NLC and TUC received the government’s invitation through the Ministry of Labour and Employment this morning.
