Alexis Beka Beka, the midfielder from OGC Nice, reportedly made threats to jump from the Magnan viaduct in Nice, France, this Friday.
According to French media reports on Friday morning, negotiations are underway with a club psychologist at the scene, and emergency services, firefighters, and the military are involved in the rescue operation.
It is alleged that the incident is linked to a romantic breakup, as per Marca. Despite his €12 million transfer from Lokomotiv Moscow to Nice in 2022, the 22-year-old midfielder has not played this season.
The viaduct stands at approximately 100 meters in height, leading to traffic disruptions on the A8 motorway. Marca reported that the motorway gendarmerie platoon was responsible for traffic control, resulting in one lane being blocked and extensive traffic jams. The police were stationed beneath the viaduct.
In response to this situation, Nice has canceled their planned media activities and established a crisis unit. Training sessions will continue, but the press has been asked to leave, and a scheduled press conference has been postponed.
