Police Rescue 8 Abducted Ondo Church Members

Eight of the 25 individuals who were kidnapped on the Owo/Ifon/Benin Expressway in Ondo state have been successfully rescued by police officers.

The spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, SP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, has confirmed this rescue operation and stated that efforts are ongoing to ensure the safe rescue of the remaining victims.

These individuals, who belong to the Choir of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Oke Igan in Akure, the state capital, were abducted while en route to Ifon for a funeral ceremony. It’s worth noting that the Owo/Ifon/Benin Expressway has witnessed several cases of kidnappings and armed robberies in recent times.

Additionally, in November 2020, the Olufon of Ifon, Oba Israel Adeusi, a prominent traditional ruler in the state, lost his life in a tragic incident near Elegbeka while traveling from Akure to Ifon.
