Donald Trump encounters a new legal challenge on Monday, as a civil fraud trial commences in New York.
This trial involves the former president and his two sons and poses a threat to Trump’s business empire. Concurrently, he is running a campaign to regain the White House while facing four criminal cases.
In this Monday’s case, Judge Arthur Engoron has already ruled that Trump, along with his sons Eric and Don Jr., engaged in fraud by exaggerating the value of the Trump Organization’s real estate and financial assets over several years. Trump has confirmed his intention to be present at the trial’s commencement on Monday morning.
“I’m going to Court tomorrow morning to fight for my name and reputation,” the 77-year-old wrote on his Truth Social platform.
“This whole case is a sham!!!” he added.
Apart from the civil case, Trump is confronting several significant criminal proceedings in the coming months.
He is set to make an appearance before a federal judge in Washington on March 4, facing charges related to his alleged efforts to overturn the outcome of the 2020 presidential election, which was won by Joe Biden.
